Ashton is here on our 100th post

Well, I made it to 100 posts and I made it through my last pregnancy and delivery. On Mon. the 26th we welcomed Ashton Michael Simpson into our family. He was our biggest kid yet. 8 lbs 12 oz and 21 inches long. The delivery went really really well until it was time to push. That lasted longer than I would have liked. For one, I didn't feel any labor pains at all. They gave me my epidural as soon as I had one bag of IV fluid in me. Then it was a sit and chat and relax with Jared, my mom and my sister. Then they said time to push, I thought great we are almost done. Well, not only was he large he was also sunny side up so every time I pushed he came down, then when I was done he slid right back up. Eventually we got him out, although today I feel like I have been in a serious brawl. I ache from head to toe. We are home and everyone is doing well. Jared has the week off thank goodness. These are a few of the pics. I am slightly embarrassed of the one with my huge leg right in front, but that is the only one I have of me holding him. We think he looks just like Landon when Landon was born, but they change so quick he could end up looking like Ethan or Mackenzie so we'll see. Now I am off to my bed to relax!

Okay after seeing the picture of me and the lower half of my body almost showing, I had to take it out. That was a little too much. Jared said when he took it that he only took it from the top half up since the Dr. was still working on me. Apparently he forgot to look at the lower right part of the screen in the camera. Sorry everyone.

I can see the light...

So today was a good day. A very good day. My dr. said that if I wanted an induction he had no problem scheduling one. Music to my ears, since when he checked me I hadn't changed one bit and I have had nothing but contractions all week. I even spent the Relief Society hour of church walking laps around the building and still nothing. So he got me scheduled for Mon. morning the 26th. It is Memorial Day so I am hoping that some people might not want to have things scheduled for that day, or they could be like me and think my husband has the day off, things are going to be slow, don't have to worry about school for kids and all that fun stuff. Hopefully when I call the hospital on Mon. they tell me to go ahead and come on down and that I don't get bumped back due to emergency's and walk-in's. I am trying not to get my hopes up that it will actually happen on Mon., but just thinking, if I don't go on my own before then, I have a date that the ball can start rolling. Hallelujah.

Abandoning hope

So I did not have a Dr. appt today. It is supposed to be tomorrow due to some scheduling issues. I actually called to change my appt tomorrow since I have Landon's end of year program to go to. I was hoping they would have had a cancellation and I could have gone today but like my track record for this pregnancy nothing is going my way. They told me I could see the PA and then see my Dr. next week. I said to the scheduler I really need to speak with the Dr. to talk about induction, how far he will let me go before he induces, and just some other things like that. She asks well just how far along are you, I say almost 39 weeks. She then comes up with the brilliant idea that maybe she could just schedule me with the Dr. for next week. Although my horrible hormone induced brain is thinking, you moron, I will then be 40 weeks, at my due date and my whole issue is that i do not want to go to my due date let alone over. I did bite my tongue and refrain from being ornery with the lady. So she then said I can get you in at 1:30 tomorrow. Well Ethan gets out of school at 2:30 and their track record for being on time and quick is not so good. I told her this and she promised me I would be out of their office no later than 2:15. We'll see. I am pretty sure I will be leaving a urine sample with them and not getting any questions answered. Today was not a good day to start but ended up okay with us spending the day swimming at my mom's house since it has decided to get over the 100 degree mark while I am still pregnant. Last Wed. I did go to the hospital with contractions that were 3 min. apart for the entire morning and then didn't slow down once I got to the hospital. When they checked me they said I was still a 2 and there hadn't been much change. So after an hour and a half they sent me home. I was oh so bitter. As of today I would say I am probably even more bitter and I don't see any of this getting any better unless I get some good news from the Dr. tomorrow....if i actually get to see him.

progress

So for those sick of reading about my complaints of pregnancy just skip over this post. Slowly but surely I am making some progress in getting this baby born. Today I was dialated to a 2 and am 60% effaced. I was so happy to hear that considering at about 2 am Sun. morning I woke up with horrible back pains and cramping. It pretty much lasted all of Sun. so it was a wonderful Mother's Day for me. Although Jared took pitty on me and did deal with kids all day. Finally after the kids went to bed I broke down crying since I was just ready to do anything to make it so I could go to the hospital and get some drugs, I asked Jared to give me a blessing since I really needed to have the baby or at least be able to get some sleep that night. Thank heavens I was able to get a good night sleep. The doctor doesn't think it will be too much longer but you know they never say anything for sure since you don't really want to make too many promises to cranky pregnant women. Hopefully my next post will be one of a baby!

Kicking it up a notch

So as I stated before I was going to start walking to see if that would help move things along. Well last night my mom said she would go walking with me. So after Jared got home at 7:30 I left for my mom's to go walking. When I left only one child was asleep (Landon our only one who likes sleep) and the house was in disarray. Dishes, Laundry, all the good stuff. I said to jared if you could just empty the dishwasher I'll do the dishes when I get back. Well my mom and I walked for an hour. I didn't get back until almost 9 pm. When I walked through the door the laundry was going, all the kids were asleep, my bedroom had been cleaned up, the living room had been picked up and the kitchen, oh the kitchen that had been a disaster when I left was completely cleaned up. Oh the joy. If this is the only thing I got for mother's day I would be one very happy girl. I woke up to a clean house, laundry that is almost done, and no piano lessons to teach (which means no keeping my kids occupied for an hour and a half) Today could be a good day! Thank you Jared!

I am nothing!

Well at least my cervix is nothing. My Dr. appt's are on Mondays until I deliver so that is when I will post an update for those that care to be in the know. I almost went to the hospital on Sat. I was having horrible contractions. They were really hurting and they were about 3-4 min apart. I finally decided that I would drink some water go lay down and see what they did. If in a half hour they were still bad and still close I would go in. I really do not want to make a trip to the hospital to be sent home, but I also do not want to be having this baby at home or in the car. Well, much to my dismay they calmed down and then slowed down. So here I am still pregnant. When I was at my appt. they said we will check you to see if the contractions were doing anything. I thought for sure they must have done something. Nothing. Seriously? Seriously nothing. They said if my cervix was even soft they would try and stretch it a little. Not even soft. Nothing has worked this pregnancy. Not my herbs or sex. Which I am now officially giving up on since honestly if it is not going to help me go into labor why bother. So I am resorting to walking. I figure the least it will do is help me continue to not gain any weight or help me lose some. I have not gained a single pound in almost 4 weeks. I think I will try to be happy with that instead of being unhappy with my cervix. So I guess this pregnancy will be more like ethan's was. I went from nothing to a 7 and 100% effaced in an hour. Now if I could just figure out how much longer I am going to have to wait for that hour to be upon me.
